Within the scope of the FilliGRAIN-PROTECT project, a series of practical biology classes were organized and implemented to bring laboratory science closer to secondary school students. The activities were based on a collection of experimental protocols developed by the project team, which will remain available for future use in school settings.
These Practical Biotechnology classes were carried out in collaboration with Escolas Secundárias de Miraflores, Luís Freitas Branco, Professor José Augusto Lucas, and Camilo Castelo Branco, providing students with hands-on experience in experimental science while encouraging curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking. Each year, students presented their findings at local science fairs, showcasing their results and reinforcing the value of inquiry-based learning in science education.
Through this initiative, FilliGRAIN-PROTECT contributed to strengthening the connection between research and education, inspiring the next generation of young scientists.
